You may find a series of acronyms on your dishwasher display: F2, F3, F4, F5 … and many other Fs accompanied by numbers. This is not a proposal to play Battleship, but Whirlpool dishwasher error codes.
To understand its meaning, all you have to do is rely on this article by Coimbatore Service
There are several codes that may appear on the Whirlpool dishwasher screen following the sudden interruption of the program. Let's see them in detail and try to understand which could be the most appropriate solution.
When the error code F0 appears in the Whirlpool dishwasher, the wash cycles usually take a long time, and something is wrong with one of the sensors. It is possible that it is just dirty or – in the most unfortunate cases – faulty. There may also be a lack of connection between the sensor and the electronic board due to the breakage of the optical detector. Have a specialized technician perform a diagnosis and repair the fault as soon as possible.
Has it happened to you that the dishwasher suddenly stopped washing and the error code F1 came out? There is a problem with the temperature of the whole water: it probably rose well above the limit, even reaching 85°. This problem could be caused by the faulty NTC resistor. To check if it is the culprit, you must measure its values (the normal one is 50 KΩ) or let an expert repairman do it. The same error code will also appear if the internal temperature of the water is too low (-3°).
If there is a leak in the sump or softener, the wash cycle will stop and the error code F2 will appear on your Whirlpool dishwasher. You may also notice this by noticing water in the drip tray. Call a repair service immediately: only a professional can fix everything.
Your Whirlpool dishwasher gives you “error code F3” and you notice that your appliance does not clean or dry properly? It is the resistance that is having problems. As a result, the water heats up too slowly and does not allow the appliance to work properly. The resistance needs to be replaced.
The F4 error code for your Whirlpool dishwasher indicates a defect in the drain and causes the wash cycle to be suspended. The problem, in this case, could be with the drain hose, the pump, the siphon, the membrane button or the control board. Don't guess ask a professional to help you figure out what the real problem is and how to fix it as quickly as possible.
With the F5 error code of the Whirlpool dishwasher, however, there is no doubt about which component is “sick”: the variable speed motor wash pump. It is likely that a fault has occurred in the electronic board or frequency converter. In this circumstance it is really useful to hear the opinion of a specialized technician, especially if the warranty has expired.
When the water tap is closed or there is a defect in the inlet valve or flow meter, the appliance signals the error code F6. Your Whirlpool dishwasher is not broken, but something needs to be checked. Check that the tap is properly opened, that the valve filter is clean and that the flow meter is not faulty. Broken parts will need to be replaced.
Unlike error code F6, with F7 there is no doubt: the problem is the flow meter. You must replace it. In rarer cases, the fault is with the aquastop. The solution is the same: replace the old one with the new one.
Among the error codes of Whirlpool dishwashers, F8 is the rarest of all and is activated when there is a large amount of foam or limescale in the compartment that prevents water from entering. The problem could be related to the OWI or the WI and in this case these two components should be replaced. To clean the foam present in the tub it is necessary to carry out empty washes that clean the dishwasher thoroughly. Another possible criticality could be found in the wash pump which must be cleaned properly.
If the solenoid valve does not close mechanically after water enters or if the Triac does not close, it is likely that there is a continuous entry of water into the tub and that the appliance stops, signalling the error code F9.
When the error codes in the Whirlpool dishwasher do not have numbers but only sequences of letters, the problems are different. With the FA code, for example, a dirty optical switch is indicated, therefore a faulty OWI; with FB a problem with the flow diverter motor is reported and with FC a problem with the automatic salt adapter is highlighted. In all three cases, you should request the intervention of a professional technician who knows how to decipher the acronym, recognize the fault behind it and (above all) can repair it in the shortest possible time and with the minimum inconvenience.
