How to change the heating element in a Siemens washing machine?

It is almost impossible to miss a heater failure in a Siemens washing machine. The machine stops heating, the cycle runs in cold water, and the user gets poorly washed laundry. Sometimes the washing machine refuses to wash at all - it displays an error on the display and freezes. There is only one way out - diagnostics and replacement of the heating element. We will tell you in more detail how to proceed.

Is the heating element difficult to reach?

It is almost impossible to repair a heating element - it is easier and cheaper to replace the heating element in a Siemens washing machine. The cost of a new element is low; the main thing is to select an analogue strictly according to the serial number of the existing machine. But first, you need to make sure that the part is faulty by removing it from the housing and ringing it with a multimeter.

The process of dismantling, diagnostics and installation can be done at home, saving on the services of a repairman. On Siemens washing machines, the heater is located at the back wall of the case, which allows you to get to it without disassembling the machine. The main thing is to take care of safety precautions and prepare for replacement in advance.

We prepare everything necessary

To remove the heating element and diagnose it, you will need a minimum of tools: a flat and Phillips screwdriver, a wrench with a set of heads and a multimeter. Be sure to prepare the washing machine itself for the upcoming repair:

  • We disconnect Siemens from all communications (electricity, water and sewerage),
  • We turn the body with the back wall forward,
  • Unscrew the bolts holding the rear panel,
  • We disconnect the "back" from the body.

Before the actual repair, you need to take care of the replacement part. It is strongly recommended to refuse Chinese fakes, opting for original components. On average, the cost of a new heater for Siemens ranges from 700 to 1500 rubles. If the heating element breaks in a recently purchased machine, you cannot open the case yourself - only call a specialist as part of warranty service.

We check and change the part

The procedure for replacing the heating element is simple, as it does not require disassembling the machine or other complex manipulations. It is enough to disconnect Siemens from communications, turn it around and remove the back. Then we pay attention to the lower part of the case - under the tank there is a rounded chip with many wires connected. This is the heater. Having found the heating element, we proceed to diagnostics.

  • We turn on the multimeter in ohmmeter mode.
  • We apply the tester probes to the heater contacts.
  • We measure the resistance and compare it with the norm of 25-35 Ohm (if there are significant deviations, it means the heating element is out of order).

A faulty heater needs to be replaced. But first, remember the location of the wires, ideally take a photo or mark them. Let's continue:

  • We disconnect the terminals from the connector,
  • Use a wrench to loosen the central bolt,
  • We press the bolt inward,
  • We pry the heating element with a screwdriver and remove it from the “nest”.

Then we proceed to replace the heating element. We clean the seat, move the temperature sensor and fix the new element in the "nest". We return the wiring and the back wall and then connect Siemens and start the wash. If the machine heats up, then the repair was done well.
